Next Gen Focus will not have an SVT badge - 10-10-2010, 07:46 PM

The 2012 Ford Focus ST will be a Global performance platform for the European and US market.

Focus ST announcement at Paris Auto Show 2010

At the heart of the appeal of the next-generation Focus ST is a high-output derivative of the efficient and advanced new 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost™ four-cylinder engine that is projected to produce more than 240 horsepower. Compared to the 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine used in other Ford vehicles, the version for the ST will feature re-designed intake and exhaust systems and a unique engine calibration to deliver the desired level of power and responsiveness. The engine will retain the strong torque delivery which is a feature of Ford EcoBoost designs, with a broad, flat torque curve.

The transmission for the Focus ST is a 6-speed manual gearbox, optimized with sporting ratios, carefully matched to the performance characteristics of the engine.

Not bad at all. Looks pretty appealing.
wonder what type of motor set up.
letters of 'SVT' would still help IMO.

SVT hasn't meant anything in a long time. I'm fine without it. I'm just glad to see the US getting a cool Focus for a change.

While on vacation I saw a Fiesta ST. It was white with blue stripes over the top and on the rockers. It had a spoiler on the hatch and looked like a pretty sporty car.

I'd love to see it too, but given the computer controls for things like torque steer and the load of the differential, I'm not sure you'd ever need an all wheel drive Focus. I haven't seen the AWD racing version of the car, but I imagine the mechanicals to do all wheel drive are fairly intrusive.

I doubt that will happen anytime soon, based on the window sticker I saw on a "platinum" focus.

The Subaru WRX is its closest match, but they went back to a hatchback design. I have looked at a car like Alex's, but they wanted a down payment before a test drive. I'll admit it is a BA car though.
