GM axes the GTO - 03-05-2006, 09:03 PM

They are announcing that they will stop building the car in June 06' .
Only a short time of production since 2003 , they are giving the reasons is because of the upcoming 2007 federal air bag rules for side curtain bags , that trieing to redesign the GTO would be too expensive... RIP.

actually the new GTO will share the underpinnings of the new Camaro due out in 2 years

Probably, these news report don't always spill all the beans.

Well it was mostly a flop anyway. Just trying to sell the name when they didnt even build the car.

I can't imagine the sales were all that good. You just don't see very many of them on the road.
