SVT Contour for sale . . . far away Ohio - 07-16-2008, 02:07 PM

This is not a bad looking Contour at all, considering the mileage.

Such a vehicle would make for a fun daily driver.

I would be a little concerned about a 1999 car licensed in Michigan (see plate in the rear picture) and now living in Ohio (see the heading "buckeye"). They use salt in the winter and they have had a few winters in the past nine years. I was born and raised in Michigan. They don't call it the rust belt just to be funny.

Having grown up in the Midwest, believe me, the rust issue came to mind. Whenever I go back there to visit family, the number of rusted out cars startles me. I have been in Texas for so long that I have forgotten how lucky we are to not have salt issues, and just how rare it is to see even one rusty car down here.

Of course, if I really want be reminded of the havoc wrought by the tin worm, all I need to do is go to the garage and look at my beloved '75 Cougar (the source of my 75coug handle, as you might guess). The rust on it will make a person cringe. Seventeen Midwestern winters took a toll.

This photo only gives the tiniest glimpse into the extent of the rust.
